Teaching Plan

 Curriculum

SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta follows an independent curriculum where everyone is free to learn. Teachers have the flexibility to choose materials and strategies based on students' abilities and capacity to learn. As far as I know, Indonesian teachers have many responsibilities to the Ministry of Education, requiring them to prepare 11 documents before starting teaching each semester.

Teaching Plan Related to My Major

The teaching plan used in relation to my major, which is science, is usually based on textbooks and other learning resources. Teachers employ a variety of methods and strategies when creating lesson plans. They primarily use student-centered learning approaches, designing their lesson plans, teaching strategies, and materials according to their students' abilities.

In preparing lessons and materials, teachers typically follow the curriculum to ensure organization. From my observations, they use PowerPoint presentations, projectors, and whiteboards as learning tools to help students grasp the concepts effectively. The whiteboard is used to highlight key details of the lesson.

Their teaching methods are very impressive, and I was amazed by how well they manage their classes. The students are actively engaged and participative. To assess students' understanding of the lesson, teachers use evaluations or assessments, such as test papers. I was impressed to see that the students were able to answer the assessments, proving that they had learned from the teacher.

Classroom Environment and Student Participation

The classrooms at SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta are fun and friendly. Students join in class discussions and group activities (handicrafts). Teachers make sure the classroom is a safe and happy place where students feel free to ask questions and share their ideas. The seats can be moved around so students can work alone or in groups. Teachers also set clear rules to keep the class quiet and organized. From what I saw, students enjoy their lessons and are excited to learn.

Assessment and Feedback

Teachers use different ways to check if students understand the lessons. They give tests, short quizzes, and oral questions. Sometimes, teachers ask questions during the lesson to see if students are following along. They also give quick feedback so students know what they did well and what they need to improve. This helps students learn better, not just by memorizing but by really understanding the lessons.
